Sketch a word before choosing stitches
Write the word several times at the intended size. Notice narrow spaces, joins and the parts of each letter that make it recognizable.
Mark a baseline and compare the gaps between letters by eye. An even visual rhythm may require different measured gaps.
Keep the clearest sketch with your project notes. Test the design on a sample before transferring it to a finished item.
