Label a lettering sampler
Choose a small piece of practice fabric and record its type. Label the thread, needle and stitch used for each test in a notebook.
Try the same letter at two sizes. Compare the corners, curves and readability without treating a larger version as automatically better.
Keep the sampler flat with its notes. It becomes a reference for what worked with that particular combination of materials.
